Mrs Susanna Stanford

Lay Representative for OAA Committee
Labour Pains SC

Following experience of a spinal anaesthetic failing, Susanna became interested in the importance of non technical skills for patient safety. She spoke about her experience at the OAA annual conference in 2015. The OAA later made a video of that talk and Susanna subsequently co-wrote a paper on communication for IJOA. She became the OAA Lay Member Representative in 2017.

Susanna is also a member of the UK Obstetric Surveillance System Steering Group. She has a BSc in Psychology, works in education and continues to speak at patient safety events.
