Dr Emma Evans is a consultant anaesthetist at St Georges Hospital in London and is currently working with staff and mothers on the ‘New Beginnings’ experience based co-design project aiming to improve the quality of the birth experience in Maternity operating theatres in collaboration with The Point of Care Foundation and funded through the Health Innovation Network.

Emma graduated from the University of London in 1995. After training in anaesthetics on the South West Thames Anaesthetic Rotation, she joined the consultant team at St George's Hospital in 2005.

Emma has a strong interest in medical education and particularly in in-situ team simulation in maternity. She was the Clinical Lead for Simulation from 2008-2010. She has led multiple workshops and training sessions on multi-professional team performance and engagement in Maternity and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education.

She has previously been Lead for Obstetric Anaesthesia at St George's, Lead Anaesthetist for Risk in Maternity and a member of the South West London Maternity Network Board. Her current passion is focussing on how anaesthetists can enhance women's experience of birthing in an operating theatre.
