OAA Three-Day Course Bursaries

A limited number of bursaries are available to overseas doctors who otherwise could not afford to attend the course. Preference will be given to applicants from low- and middle-income countries. The bursary would cover travel expenses, four nights accommodation and successful applicants will be able to attend the course free of charge.

Applications for such bursaries should be sent by email to Robin Russell (Chairman Research & Grants Sub-committee) and should include:

  • The applicant’s curriculum vitae
  • Projected travel and accommodation costs (see guide to costings in London)
  • A letter from the applicant’s Head of Department or Superior confirming the applicant’s suitability for the course, his/her current annual salary and that there are no local sources of funding available to the applicant

Payment for travel and accommodation would be by way of reimbursement on production of receipts and conditional on the applicant attending the whole course.

Each application will be considered on its merits by the OAA Research & Grants Sub-committee. If more applications are received than bursaries available, applicants will be ranked in order of priority as determined by the OAA Research and Grants Sub-committee and, if appropriate, forwarded to the OAA Executive Committee for a final decision.

Applications can be made from 1st May to attend the course in the same year, with the deadline being 31st May.

Due to their popularity, bursaries will not be awarded to applicants who have previously attended an OAA Three-Day Course.
