Message from the OAA Executive Committee
The last few weeks have been one of the most challenging periods that the NHS has ever experienced. We know that our members and broader NHS colleagues have risen to the unique challenges of managing COVID-19 in our hospitals and other settings.
As the crisis eases and we all take steps towards restoring a new normality, the OAA has decided to proceed with the Executive Committee elections and Annual General Meeting which were scheduled to have been held at our Annual Scientific Meeting that has now been cancelled. . This year due to social restrictions instead of a face-to-face Annual General meeting, we will hold our Annual General Meeting as a webinar on Saturday 27th June
. We would be delighted if as many of you as possible were able to join this webinar and learn about the work of the OAA over the past year. Details on how to join the webinar will be posted shortly.
It is a disappointment for all of us that that the Annual Scientific Meeting this year has been cancelled, particularly for the many members and colleagues whose abstracts had been selected for presentation in Birmingham. Abstract presentations are one of the most important elements of the Annual Scientific Meeting. We are working hard to find a way for these abstracts (oral and poster presentations) to be presented at another forum in the future.
After deliberation, we have decided to replace the Update Day planned in October with a webinar. We are excited about this new venture by the OAA to provide educational virtual meetings for the OAA! Details about this and other OAA activities will be available shortly.
