Graduated from University of Birmingham, 1999.
Consultant anaesthetist with specialist interest in head, neck and obstetric anaesthesia at Manchester University Foundation Trust (MFT).
She is active in medical education having been a college tutor for 6 years, a training programme director for 4 years and an associate director of medical education at MFT.
She has published a number of anaesthesia books, including Core Topics in Obstetric Anaesthesia.
She is chair of the simulation faculty and member of the MFT Human Factor Academy. She has published an obstetric simulation manual, Decision making and Simulation in Obstetrics, Cambridge University Press. She lectures nationally on the topics of obstetric simulation and human factors. More recently she has been involved with development of a quick reference guide for management of obstetric cardiac arrest in collaboration with the Resuscitation Council UK.
She has been an anaesthetic clinical advisor for the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch since 2020.
She is a council member for the Obstetric Anaesthetists’ Association since 2019, where she works with the education and guideline subcommittee.
She is also lead for the OAA learning zone.
