The OAA together with the Association of Anaesthetists first published a booklet entitled Guidelines for Obstetric Anaesthesia Services in September 1998.

Guidelines for Obstetric Anaesthetic Research
Partly in response to requests from OAA members and partly in response to concerns raised by user groups, the OAA Ethics Subcommittee was formed in May 2000 and produced these guidelines in May 2001 after wide consultation and comments from: Association for Improvements in Maternity Services; Association of Research Ethics Committees; British Medical Association; Consumers for Ethics in Research; Central Office for Research Ethics Committees, Department of Health; General Medical Council; Medical Research Council; National Childbirth Trust; National Maternity Alliance; Royal College of Anaesthetists; Royal College of Midwives; Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists; Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health; Royal College of Physicians).
