NOAD data collection 2010

National Obstetric Anaesthetic Database

(Referral page and instructions for Lead Obstetric Anaesthetists collecting and returning data for 2010)

If you are no longer the Lead OA please:

• forward the email to the lead OA in your unit
• send the name, telephone number and email address of the new Lead OA to the OAA Secretariat so that the records can be updated.

Method of Data Collection

We are using the OAA's survey system for the second time to collect the NOAD data for the year 2010. Instructions for submitting data will be sent with the email invitation.

It is suggested that you first print the questions to note the data prior to input.

Please use this printout for entering data onto the system; it is not intended for return to the Secretariat!

DATA

Fields: the 2010 collection includes the nine additional fields on obstetric anaesthesia related complications added for 2009. We are interested in knowing how often the really serious complications, such as total spinal anesthesia, epidural haematoma etc, occur.

Collection period: data is requested for the Calendar year (from January 2010). However, if your hospital is only able to retrieve data by the Financial year (from April 2010) then this is also acceptable.

• Data does not have to be complete and you are asked to submit whatever you have

• If the answer to any of the questions is 'none' please enter '0'; if unknown, please leave blank

Information from your unit may need to be collected from several sources, e.g. your lead midwife or lead obstetrician. Please complete the fields as accurately as possible. We have tried to define the fields tightly to avoid ambiguity and we recognise that some information is likely to be missing or not to be available retrospectively.

Links to data from earlier collections can be found in the members' area.

Thank you for your help.
