The following statement has been accepted by the Royal College of Anaesthetists (September 2011): 

Level 3 CPD in Obstetric Anaesthesia

The level 3 matrix encompasses an extension of all topics covered in levels 1 and 2.

In addition other areas that can contribute include:

• Management of the high risk obstetric patients
• Multidisciplinary team working (for the obstetric patient)
• Simulation in obstetric anaesthesia
• Research development
• Societal, political and ethical aspects of childbirth and pain relief in labour
• Risk management in obstetrics
• Medico legal issues
• Maternal medicine
• Organisational issues of obstetric anaesthesia i.e. funding, tendering, commissioning
