Annual Scientific Meeting Bursaries
A limited number of Bursaries are available to overseas doctors to attend and present an accepted abstract (either as an oral or poster presentation) who otherwise could not afford to attend.
Applications for such bursaries should be sent by email to Dr Gary Stocks (Chairman Research & Grants Subcommittee) and should include:
- the Applicant’s curriculum vitae
- A copy of the accepted abstract
- projected travel and accommodation costs
- a letter from the Applicant’s Head of Department or Superior confirming the Applicant’s suitability for the meeting his/her current annual salary and that there are no local sources of funding available to the Applicant.
Payment for travel and accommodation would be by way of reimbursement on production of receipts and conditional on the Applicant attending the whole meeting
Each application will be considered on its merits by the Research & Grants committee. If more applications are received than bursaries available, applicants will be ranked in order of priority as determined by the Research and Grants committee and, if appropriate, forwarded to the OAA Executive Committee for a final decision.
The deadline for bursary applications is 1st April for attending the meeting in May the same year.
